I finished not one, but two (!!!) projects during my holiday and I finally got them washed and blocked. First up is my second Pebble Beach shawl. I made the shawlette version for myself a little while back, and when my aunt saw that one she loved it. So I decided to make one for her too as a gift.
Pattern: Pebble Beach Shawl
Yarn: Fyberspates Vivacious 4ply in Blue Lagoon
I went for the medium size, as my aunt said she’d like a nice big version and I think the size worked out really nice. Here’s a pic of the shawlette version stacked on it for scale.
Pretty nice size no? And with this yarn it’ll certainly drape around the shoulders nicely. Once again I’m really pleased with Fyberspates. I tried to find a nice, intense blue colour and this one certainly ticks all the boxes.
It did get a little boring at some point, at least knitting the repetitive part up to the border. So there’ll be no Pebble Beach #3 anytime soon, nevertheless I can really recommend the pattern.
As for the socks, these were over a year in the making. I cast them on as a project to knit on the train, but I guess I rarely ride the train though, hence the long in the making period (I’m full of brilliant plans). Surprisingly, this is my first vanilla pair of socks in my collection. After I learned to knit socks I got bored with vanilla socks after 1 sock, and I immediately moved on to more interesting patterns. But there’s nothing wrong with some simple self striping socks every once in a while. The yarn is Froehlich Wolle Maxi Ringel that I bought in Switzerland last year. Pretty happy they’re finished though, especially because I want to make October a month of finishing up some old WIPs.
They both look fabulous but I could quite happily give the shawl a home! It’s a really gorgeous colour – might have something in my stash that blue… Hmmm
Great knits! I love that rich blue-I’m sure your aunt will treasure it 🙂 And I love the colors in those socks so much!
Those socks are electric. They definitely look like my favorite kind of socks: loud and cozy.
That shawl is a definite jaw dropper. It is just spectacular. Excellent pairing of pattern and color. I hope you had a lovely holiday!
I love boring. I better check out that pattern
Trying to do exactly the same thing this fall…..finish a couple of lingering projects. But you are WAY ahead of me. (I chose a lack-luster charity knit) These are both stunning….what a gift for your aunt!!! Enjoy those socks!!!
Lovely shawl! It really is a good size and the colour is very pretty. I’m tempted by blue at the moment, though. Lucky aunt!
What a gorgeous shawl! Love it, especially the color 🙂 your socks are awesome !
Your second Pebble Beach is gorgeous! Lucky aunt! Such beautiful colorful projects. Great job finishing the socks, too. Isn’t it so satisfying to check another project off the wip list?
Both your socks and your Pebble Beach shawl are lovely!
the shawl looks so perfect, well done for getting two projects finished as well! the socks are glorious, I need to knit something that tastefully colourful 😀 jenny xx
What a generous stunning gift! Amazing work!
Yay for finished projects! I love the colour of the shawl, perfectly blue 🙂
lovely shawls (two!!!) and a pair of socks, I’d say you were quite productive in your knitting 🙂
Great knits! Love this perfect shade of blue 🙂
